Overview
Naltar Valley is one of the most enchanting and accessible mountain valleys in Gilgit-Baltistan, located approximately 40 km north of Gilgit city. Famous for its three stunning turquoise alpine lakes — Naltar Lake, Blue Lake, and Satrangi (Rainbow) Lake — as well as its world-class ski resort, dense pine forests, and the vibrant gold and red foliage of autumn, Naltar is a year-round destination.
Itinerary (2-Day Naltar Experience)
Day 1 — Gilgit to Naltar Valley
Morning departure from Gilgit by 4x4 jeep. Ascend through pine forests to Naltar Village (2,898 m). Check into PTDC Motel or private guesthouse. Afternoon visit to Naltar Lake and Blue Lake — short hike between the two. Sunset photography.
Day 2 — Rainbow Lake & Return
Early morning jeep drive higher to Satrangi (Rainbow) Lake. Explore the multi-coloured mineral waters. Trekking around the lake basin. Afternoon return to Naltar Village then drive back to Gilgit.
